Once a student at New School University and a Jazz Trumpet major, Aliyah honed relationships with musicians and artist such as, Tiombe Lockhart, Matthew "eCcussionist" Vorzimer, Chris Turner aka Pher, Jesse Boykins III, Keyon Harrold, Bilal, Robert Glasper, and so many others. Her first charting song was a song entitled "Let's Fall In Love", which was written and produced by Aliyah and Matthew Vorzimer, for Robert Glasper's ArtScience album. She also collaborated with George "Spanky" McCurdy on his debut album Circa LXXXI. She was the featured artist on that album, as well as songwriter. She continues to work with musicians across the industry as a songwriter and producer. As an artist, Aliyah has released an Ep and several singles.
Aliyah began her musical journey at the age of 4. Both of her parents were musicians. Aliyah was raised from age 6 until 15, by her father who was a music teacher in the Camden, New Jersey school district. Her father taught her and passed on her love for jazz. Aliyah's primary instrument from 6 years old, was trumpet. After high school, Aliyah then went on to New School University in New York City, and majored in Jazz Performance. Tiombe Lockhart was the first person to cultivate Aliyah's passion to be a producer. Tiombe would let Aliyah use her Triton Workstation, and from there a different musician was born. Aliyah then began to focus on production and less on trumpet. From there her and her friends from New School sought out studios at school. Producing quickly evolved to writing and writing for others. The first song she ever wrote was sung by Jesse Boykins III. Soon after she was convinced by friends to sing her own songs. Thus the Electro Vocalist was born. In the early stages Aliyah and production partner Matthew "eCcussionist" Vorzimer, would use Logic 5 pitch corrector whether in studio or live. That soon became a terrible idea. They then purchased every vocal rack mount you can think of. Several years of trying things out, Aliyah found her new baby. The TC Helicon VoiceLive series was it. From then on she honed her sound live to get what you will see today.
On September 11th 2020, Aliyah released her first full length album. She also has worked with Robert Glasper . Aliyah also wrote several songs for RES and Steve Mckie's upcoming album. She continues to write and produce for herself and others. Aliyah on January 14th released a new single " I MISS YOU" Featuring Keyon Harrold. Follow her on social media to stay plugged in!
